Today was an action-packed day. Well not the 'school' part so much although we had a pretty interesting PE lesson I'm not going to mention that much. I received the shocking news of an accident involving Yijun and An Jie during my IT Club meeting. Apparently, they were near some Shell service station crossing the road when this [insert degrading word of choice here] truck driver barges through the traffic lights as though the road belonged to him/her/it. Oh yes, the traffic lights were red (on his side) at the time. Melvin was with them but he was lagging behind flipping shut his handphone.Although Yijun suffered only superficial injuries (he said he got an abrasion and small cuts) An Jie was walking in front, took the brunt of the collision and broke his collarbone. 0.0. That would be serious I think. I hope he isn't forced to miss school for too long a time while recuperating. Oh yeah extract from Yijun on AJ's injuries:
"Anjie was put in a stretcher and pushed into the ambulance, while I limped along into it. The paramedics examined Anjie in the ambulance, as he was coughing blood and said that his collarbone hurt. It turned out in the hospital that he had broken his collarbone. He had cuts behind his ear and on his arms. What hit me most was that Anjie took the whole thing very well, he did not even make a sound throughout the whole process. Anjie's brave spirit that is portrayed here is truly commendable!"
Full story at http://jon4everz.blogspot.com/[Disclaimer: The information was obtained from many sources. The truck driver may/may not have been at fault so...... [End disclaimer] ] Moral: Try to lag behind when you see trucks on the road and use flip handphones... =) Ok maybe not... [Begin real thing] remain alert when crossing the road and wait for all cars to stop before you cross.[/End real thing] Oh yeah some may wonder why I use [ ] [/] instead of the ''< >'' Blogger wont let me use it properly... =.=
Oh yes, advice from one of the entries of 2006's NEWDC (National Education Web Design Competition) proudly organised by VS IT Club... ... on the topic of...road safety. =)

The injury (hopefully not loss) of people you know makes one realise how much they mean to us.
This is a video tribute to VS 2E '08. Not mine, its Yijun's creation.
On a totally unrelated topic, the ITC president said i should be VP- Projects next year. Yay, i think...

Today during History, we had the fire evacuation drill. It just had to happen right before we watched an interesting video clip about the founding of Singapore. Oh yes, it also had to happen 15 minutes before dismissal time! When the shrill alarm sounded, our class went into a frenzy of 'excitement'. Mr Low gave the evacuation order and as we lined up in pairs outside, I noticed that the word "FIRE" was pasted outside the Home Economics room. Hmmm... ... Anyway, since the school had been thoroughly briefed by the Operations Manager, Mr Chia, the exercise went through smoothly.
This is an example of a fire drill occuring in an American middle school (Sec. school?).
People say that there is a good and bad side to most things. This is quite true. The good side (since I feel optimistic now) was that we missed some lessons, granting us a short breather from the barrage of information. However, we were also forced to sit for 20 minutes in the blazing hot sun on the new synthetic turf. Then we were dismissed slightly later than usual. (Positive 1-2 Negative!!) ADD ON: Mr Chia said later that we had done well in this exercise, however some steps could be taken to reduce congestion.

Therefore, I was forced to climb a mountain up to the 35th floor. It’s no mean feat! I felt like I had just run 2 marathons by the time I got there. It's just too hard to describe in another way. I basically wanted to stick my tongue out and pant like my dog. I made a mental note to myself here. “Remember to buy an apartment on one of the lower levels in future…” I certainly didn’t want to pant up 40 flights of stairs… :)Did a
stupid/funny/really dumb thing today...I visited my grandfather. Everyone probably thinks that this is just a simple, required task but no, guess what happened? Both lifts at his sky-high housing estate were ‘under maintenance’. To make matters worse, it was a high rise estate, and he lived on the 35th floor! I shudder to think about it. It would be really really tiring to climb all the way up...Yet, this is one of the things one cannot give up on.I remember my mother saying that he should not live on so high a floor and advising him to live on a lower floor. I quote, “What happens if a fire breaks out? An accident happens? It’s way safer to live on say, the 5th floor!!” Yet, he was adamant, saying that the view was a spectacle to behold and that the cool, refreshing air was good for his health. I wish he had followed the advice......
